We will be conducting back crawl and breast stroke 50m timings next Friday, 25th June to complete all 50m times to go with the fly and free we have already taken. Could all all session 1 (Lanes 1-3) and session 2 swimmers arrive at 19:00 and sit along the far wall in your normal places.

We will be collecting times of those with defaults only at present such that we can have a full set of latest times from everyone before we start measuring improvements.

We are starting a sprint league to boost competition amongst the swimmers whilst also increasing their speed which will help us at galas. Although we are holding our own against the bigger clubs we feel it is time that we showed them what we can achieve.

The league will consist of 5 divisions within each stroke and an overall league consisting of a cumulative time for all strokes. The top division will be timed on 100m and all other divisions 50m. Times will only be recorded on Sunday’s with some times taken during normal training on a Tuesday night and at gala’s. We will not be able to time every swimmer every week and therefore requests will be taken to record times on a first come first timed basis. This will occur at the beginning of the Sunday session if we believe that there is likely to be an improvement. We will endeavour to ensure that we time as many as possible within every month. You will only be allowed one recorded time per stroke per month.

There will be prizes within each league and we are currently still planning how this aspect will operate. Please monitor the notice board and web site for updates relating to the prizes that will be available. Additionally there will be monthly certificates for the most improved swimmer within each stroke in terms of times.

Swimmers will move up (and down) the divisions as their times improve and as swimmers move up those at the bottom of the next division will automatically drop down to the previous division. The results will be posted on the notice board and web site at the end of every month.

Due to the current recorded times and the fact that we don’t have 50m times for a number of swimmers we have assigned a default time to these swimmers and their positions within the division will initially start in alphabetical order.

We also need a name for each league (5 in total) and are looking for suggestions from the children. Please hand your ideas into Mike or any other teaching member and we will announce the results at the end of June.
