15th November 2008 – Novice League – Totton – 2nd
Overall. We competed against Christchurch
Seagulls, Romsey and Totton, City of Southampton and Hamble. Having been told we were 3rd at the end of the Gala we are pleased to say that after the scores had been checked by the home club we received an email showing our final position was actually second. Once again, several of our chosen swimmers were unavailable despite being given a month’s notice. We understand that prior commitments must be honoured and that you have other interests and hobbies, but please try to support the club by keeping the Gala dates free. The full year’s Gala dates are displayed on the notice board and will be on the website shortly. Many thanks to those swimmers who stepped
in to fill in.

27th September 08 – Novice League – City of Southampton
– 4th overall. We were hampered by a drastic
shortage of boys, due partly to a clash with a sailing
competition. However, our 9 yr old enjoyed the opportunity
to swim up in individual races and we were extremely proud of
them. Once again we received several time penalties for
swims beyond our expectations. Well done to those who
surprised us with outstanding improvement.

Seals win Cherriman Trophy (IOW) 5 Jul 08.
An exiting Gala with each team running two lanes of swimmers
scoring points for their team. Only the Isle of Wight could field double relay teams, so they scored just their best relay results from those events to keep the competition fair. Our swimmers always enjoy the chance to race each other and this rivalry in the individual races created an added incentive to swim at their best. Despite all the energy expended on the afternoon of games, 30 new personal best times were achieved including 6 which incurred time penalties. The weather had held dry and sunny for the picnic and afternoon games in the park followed by a winning performance and returning home with trophy once again.
