  • Ringwood Seals 2nd at
    Christchurch
    Novice Gala – 3rd Nov 07

Due to this being the nearest Saturday to Bonfire night many of the chosen swimmers were unable to attend. However, Annette is please to report that other swimmers were available and willing to take part and she would like to thank all the main squad swimmers who were willing to swim up in older age groups. In the end we were able to field a good team and finished in 2nd place with 173 points beating Romsey and Totton with 135 points and Southampton with 141 points. Unfortunately we were surpassed by the hosts – Christchurch and New Milton – who won with 204 points. Annette would like to thank all participating swimmers officials and team managers for their time and support. It was an enjoyable and exiting Gala with all our swimmers giving their best efforts. The
decision on Boy and Girl of the Gala was a difficult one, with many nominations, but the final choice was as follows:

    • Rachael Looker Age 8 – an excellent attempt at
butterfly in the 9 and under medley relay and the
      freestyle relay and cannon.
    • Alex Bevan Age 8 – swimming up in the 10 year old events with a good PB on his breaststroke and excellent F/C swims.
    • Mia Jameson – for improvement on F/C in
      individual and relays
    • Blake Crosswell – Blake was injured due to a fall on Tuesday resulting in a black and painful eye, but
despite the discomfort of wearing goggles he was a real trooper, swimming all his races without complaint and achieving a new PB in F/C.
  • Ringwood Seals win Cherriman

On the 14th July the club set sail to the IOW for a picnic whic was a great success – WITH NO RAIN BUT SUN! The
Seals then competed against the IOW swim teams to win the Cherriman trophy by 51 points. Nearly everyone
achieved personal best times even though they had been playing football all afternoon! Boy and Girl of the
Gala were Emily Crosswell for her brilliant 100m butterfly swim and William Kebby for his 25m freestyle and backstroke races. The day was topped off with the most amazing sunset as we sailed back.
